Instructor: Ian Harvey has been a massage therapist since 2006, and is a graduate of the Florida School of Massage. Ian teaches a style of massage that’s a mix of myofascial release and good old Swedish. Think of it as being slowly ironed out, while still having a sense of flow. You can find his online tutorials on YouTube under the name Massage Sloth.

Class Description: Join Ian for a two day workshop aimed at bridging the gap between myofascial release and Swedish massage. This includes an introduction to myofascial work, and lots of demonstration of how to slow your sessions down and make them more profound. If you already do myofascial work, this class will help you incorporate more easy, soothing movement into your repertoire. Expect to learn specific techniques for the neck, hips, and back, as well as broad strategies for working in a pain-free and sustainable way. Please bring loose clothes, a set of sheets, a face cradle cover, and your favorite oil or lotion.

When you sign up, you will have the option to agree to bring a massage table, bolster, and rolling stool. I will need at least half of our students to bring these, so please consider signing up to do so if you’re driving to class. Thank you!

Covid precautions: While it is unlikely, masks could potentially be a class-wide requirement based on local conditions and at the instructor’s discretion; please see the email sent a week prior to class. All students are welcome to wear a mask regardless of requirements, and extra surgical masks will be available on site. If you are feeling at all unwell, I ask that you stay home and recover, and a full refund will be issued.

To sign up, fill out the form below, or do so directly on my Acuity site here. Feel free to email me if you have any trouble!
