Workshop: Myofascial Swedish

March 22-23, 2023, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania

Location: The Alloy Hotel, meeting room Summit 6 (map)
16 Live CE hours, NCBTMB approved, also eligible for New York and Florida
Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM each day, with one hour for lunch
Price: $415 (paid in full or in two installments)

Instructor: Ian Harvey has been a massage therapist since 2006, and is a graduate of the Florida School of Massage. Ian teaches a style of massage that’s a mix of myofascial release and good old Swedish. Think of it as being slowly ironed out, while still having a sense of flow. You can find his online tutorials on YouTube under the name Massage Sloth.

Class Description: Join Ian for a two day workshop aimed at bridging the gap between myofascial release and Swedish massage. This includes an introduction to myofascial work, and lots of demonstration of how to slow your sessions down and make them more profound. If you already do myofascial work, this class will help you incorporate more easy, soothing movement into your repertoire. Expect to learn specific techniques for the neck, hips, and back, as well as broad strategies for working in a pain-free and sustainable way. Please bring loose clothes, a set of sheets, a face cradle cover, and your favorite oil or lotion.

Special Considerations: This event is being held at a hotel meeting space (for the first time!), so I will need at least half of our attendees to bring a table, bolster, and rolling stool. Just check the box as you sign up if you’re able to help out with this.

There are no outside meals allowed at this location, so consider signing up for a box lunch as you register (the option appears right after you click the “sign up” button at the top of the form). This will consist of a mixed greens salad with chicken OR a turkey wrap, plus a pasta salad side and a brownie for dessert. I’ll contact you prior to class to note your order, and changes can be made based on dietary needs or preferences. The cost is about $30 each day, which I think is a bit much, so if you sign up I’ll cover one of the days. Keep in mind that we tend to work through lunch, with me doing a bonus demo on a student, so I’d love to have everyone stay on site during our lunch break. (Also, I’m sure bringing your own snacks and drinks is fine).

Discounted rooms for this event can be reserved by using this link.

Covid precautions: Masks could potentially be a class-wide requirement based on local conditions and at the instructor’s discretion; please see the email sent a week prior to class. All students are welcome to wear a mask regardless of requirements, and extra surgical masks will be available on site. If you are feeling at all unwell, I ask that you stay home and recover, and a full refund will be issued.

To sign up, fill out the form below, or do so directly on my Acuity site here. Feel free to email me if you have any trouble!
